Kristopher’s Store in Iliili has been shutdown again by the Department of Health because of unsanitary conditions.
John Fuimaono, head of the Environmental Health Division of DOH, says the fast food section was closed Thursday after an inspection found that the area where food is prepared was not kept clean.
However after another inspection on Saturday, DOH shut down the whole store.
Health Director Motusa Tuileama Nua is reported to have walked through the store after it was cleaned up and gave the order to close it down completely because he was dissatisfied with what he found.
For example rat droppings were seen at a section near the freezers at the back of the store.
Sunday shoppers were surprised to find the store locked when they went to buy umu and other toonai menu items like povi masima (corned brisket) and mamoe (lamb).
Fuimaono says closing the whole store down gave employees the chance to do a thorough clean up before DOH carries out another inspection today.
