Theft of pallets of tuna at StarKist under investigation

StarKist Samoa has declined to comment on a reported theft case at its Satala plant.

But law enforcement sources tell KHJ News that there is an active case by the Criminal Investigations Division on the disappearance of a few pallets of tuna from the cannery.

KHJ News has learned that a senior staffer at the cannery has been fired in connection with the case.

The female employee is reported to have been escorted out of the plant by security and her laptop confiscated.

It’s believed that officials from cannery headquarters carried out an internal investigation before the case was referred to DPS.

KHJ News sent questions to StarKist spokeswoman Michelle Faist but she said last week, “We have no comment.
