The Senate has asked for a conference committee with the House to be held tomorrow to discuss their funding bill for the Territorial Correctional Facility wall and seawalls.

This after Senators rejected the House version of the bill which representatives approved as submitted by the administration.

While the Senate had amended its version of the bill earlier this week to take out the surplus of Fiscal Year 2017 as a funding source, Senators Faamausili Mau Mau Jr. and Faiivae Alex Godinet today questioned the need to change the bill.

They preferred that the bill be left intact as submitted by the administration.

Senator Magalei Logovii gave his explanation that the FY2017 surplus had already been used and it was incorrect to leave the surplus for that year in the bill.  But Faamausili said Magalei was no longer the Treasurer, he is now a senator,

Senate President Pro Tem Nuanuaolefeagaiga Saoluaga Nua who led the session in the absence of Senate President Gaoteote Palaie, who departed the territory Thursday, said they will discuss the bill again in the conference committee tomorrow.
