The 2020 Census Office on the top floor of the Lumana’i Building is now opened.

It will serve as the nerve center of the counting of every man , woman and child in American Samoa regardless of nationality or immigration status.

Yesterday an opening ceremony was held at the Tauese Pita Sunia Ocean Center, attended by ASG officials and representatives of the US Census Bureau.

Lt Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga underscored the importance of the census saying numbers drive resources and the territory’s populations determines how much funding American Samoa will receive from the US Givernment.

He urged everyone to please stand up and be counted .

Jason Kopp of the US Census Bureau, who has been named American Samoa’s Census Adviser, outlined the sequence of events now that the Census Office is opened.
