Congresswoman Aumua Amata took time to wish the USAF a happy birthday.

“Congratulations to the United States Air Force and all our Airmen. In American Samoa, we are very proud of all our men and women in uniform, and we are blessed to have some of our own serving in each branch of the Armed Forces,” said the Congresswoman.

“We take every opportunity to honor all of you and your important service to our country.”

On the 18th of September in 1947, the Air Force officially became a branch of the Armed Forces. Additionally, a proud air power history extends back through World War II to the early 1900s and the first military uses of flight.

In May, Congresswoman Amata was one of five Members of the Congressional Women’s Issues Caucus to highlight the career of an outstanding woman from one of the military services, as chosen by their service.

Congresswoman Amata was delighted to honor Chief Master Sergeant Mariah J. Armga, U.S. Air Force, at Arlington National Cemetery’s Women’s Memorial.

Currently, the Air Force comprises 685,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces.

The Air Force is led by Acting Secretary Matthew Donovan, and Air Force Chief of Staff General David Goldfein.
