Local investigations by the Department of Homeland Security of the Vietnamese couple charged in Samoa with possession of illicit drugs and bribery, continue.

Homeland Security Director Samana Semo Veavea says the husband of the Vietnamese woman found with pills containing heroin and cocaine at Faleolo Airport a week ago, had traveled with her from Vietnam, via Singapore, Fiji and Samoa.

The couple was returning to American Samoa where they were living for a few years and their young child traveled with them.

Two other Vietnamese men who were associated with the couple made it back to the territory.

They had pills which according to Samana were over the counter drugs for flu and other ailments.

But the quantity was more than for single use.

Director Samana said there are appearances that the men with the drugs may be selling them locally.

Homeland Security is working with the Department of Health to find out more about the Vietnamese group.
