Territory bound woman busted in Samoa

Customs officers in Samoa intercepted pills containing heroine and cocaine from a Vietnamese woman traveling from Singapore via Fiji to American Samoa.

The woman landed in Samoa on Sunday Samoa time and customs officers at the airport referred her to police on suspicion that she was in possession of illicit drugs in the form of pills.

A press release from the Samoa Police Service said that an initial drug test was conducted and the results came out positive for heroin and cocaine.

The K-9 detectors dogs were also used.

Samoa Police estimate the value of the confiscated drugs at $400,000 tala.

Media sources in Samoa say the woman claims she is a store owner in the territory but as of now her identity hasn’t been disclosed.

Australian Federal Police have conducted training for customs and police in Samoa on the drug trade in the Pacific and the various forms that drugs are being smuggled into Pacific island countries. Local police have also participated in the drug enforcement training by the Australia Federal Police.
