Flags at half staff in honor of HC Aumoeualogo

Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has ordered the lowering of flags beginning sunrise yesterday and ending at sunset today in honor of the passing of the late High Chief Aumoeualogo Teo Fuavai.

In a  July 13 memo, the governor ordered the flying of flags at half staff “in remembrance of Aumoeualogo’s years of public service and dedication to our territory.”

In the same memo , the governor authorized the use of the territorial flag in Aumoeualogo’s funeral services and directed the Department of Public Safety to present all appropriate honors and ceremony as authorized by territorial protocol.

“I ask the people of American Samoa to join me in honoring the passing of High Chief Aumoeualogo Teo Fuavai. His service to his family and his church and to the people of American Samoa will long be remembered. His good will, generosity of spirit, commitment and leadership shall stand as shining examples for us all to follow,” said Governor Lolo.

Aumoeaulogo passed away June 12 in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 82.

His funeral services began yesterday with a service at the Aoa CCCAS Church and his body laid in state for wake services overnight at his guest house in Aoa.  His requiem Mass will be held at 1pm today at the Holy Family Cathedral at Fatuoaiga with burial to follow at the family property in Nu’uuli.
