Thomas Siaumau, who is serving a 30-year sentence for shooting at a police vehicle with an officer behind the wheel, has escaped from the Territorial Correctional Facility.

It’s believed that he left the TCF sometime Wednesday and up to this morning he is still on the run.

Sources tell KHJ News that TCF personnel discovered between 8-9 Wednesday night that Siaumau was not in his cell.  Since then nearly all police personnel have been scouring the island looking for the escapee.

There’s been no public announcement issued by DPS about the escaped inmate.

Siaumau was convicted in May of seven counts related to the 2017 shooting of a police vehicle at the Tony Solaita Baseball Field.

He was convicted of first degree assault, two counts of property damage first degree, possession of a prohibited weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, public peace disturbance and corruption of a juvenile.

He filed a motion for a new trial for which a hearing was held two months ago, but a ruling has yet to be issued.
