Escapee still on the run

The manhunt continues for escapee Thomas Siaumau.

Sources tell KHJ News that guards at the Territorial Correctional Facility first became aware that Siaumau was not in his cell on Wednesday night. Since then police officers have been looking for the escaped convict.

There was a swarm of cops seen at Pago Pago International Airport last night.

An officer told KHJ News that they can’t obtain a stop order for Siaumau since he’s a US national so they have to be physically present at the airport to look out for him at the airport.

Cops have also been checking flights heading to Samoa.

Some of Siaumau’s relatives are said to be cooperating with the search, according to police sources.

KHJ News has made repeated efforts to obtain comment from Commissioner of Public Safety Lei Sonny Thompson, but he has not responded.

Siaumau was convicted and sentenced in May to 30 years in jail in connection with a 2017 incident when he fired shots at a police vehicle at the Tony Solaita Baseball field.
