The government television station KVZK-TV is signing an agreement with the broadcaster for the Pacific Games in Samoa, Melanesian Media Group, for rights to air coverage of the Games.

Deputy Director of the Office of Public Information, Tialuga Vincent Iuli, says they will air the MMG coverage of the Games, starting with the opening ceremony this Saturday evening (local time) and Sunday (Samoa time).

This consists of 8 hours of each day’s Games plus one hour of highlights for the two weeks of the regional sporting event.

KVZK-TV will have a 6-member team in Samoa to focus on Team American Samoa.

They have access to the Games Village and the various sports venues, including the Boxing venue in Savaii.

The TV crew, led by Tialuga, consists of one reporter and five production personnel. The Games coverage will be aired on Channel 2.

Meanwhile, Team American Samoa gathered last evening at the Nu’uuli CCCAS Church for a prayer service to seek God’s blessing and protection as they make their way to Samoa.

The service, led by Rev. Malieituluia Leitualasa, was attended by ASNOC officials, athletes, coaches and relatives.

No ASG official was present and when the reverend invited a government representative to deliver remarks, High Chief Soliai Tuipine stood and spoke to wish the team well and pledge them the territory’s tapuaiga or well wishes.
