ASNOC appeals for help to send team to PG

Next week, Team American Samoa for the Pacific Games starts traveling to Apia for the region’s biggest sports gathering.

The various sports federations under the American Samoa National Olympic Committee came together Saturday for the Olympic Day Festival and radiothon.

Prizes were awarded for the top finishers in the 5 and 10 k run and walk with the soccer teams dominating the events.

Throughout the day there were games and fun contests for sports lovers of all ages.

The team also learned a short item to perform during the parade of nations at the Games opening which was taught by former Miss Pacific Islands and Miss American Samoa Matauaina Toomalatai.

Among those who donated for the radiothon was Governor Lolo Moliga whose donation of $1,000 was called in by Acting Director of Youth and Women Affairs Pau Roy Ausage.

Secretary General of ASNOC Ethan Lake said their goal was to raise $50,000 and they’ve got $20,000 so far. He appealed to the community especially businesses to help them reach their goal.
