Utah surgeon begins 18 month mission at LBJ

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is helping staff the LBJ Hospital with US certified medical personnel.

Dr. John Edwards, an orthopaedic surgeon from Utah arrived two weeks ago with his wife Becky to work at the LBJ Hospital for 18 months.

Mrs Edwards will provide mental health counseling for LDS missionaries in the two Samoa, Tonga amd other Pacific islands.

The couple arrived two weeks ago and is staying at government housing in Tafuna, enjoying the aiga bus rides to and from LBJ.

Dr. Edwards said this is part of the LDS Church’s mission to help places that are in need like American Smaoa.
