Members of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa last year increased their offerings to the church by $ST1.1 million.

Church Treasurer Rev Rimoni Wright told of the increase at this week’s General Conference at Malua.

According to the Samoa Observer, CCCS offerings for the financial year 2018 totalled $ST19.4 million, which is an increase from the previous financial year of $18.3million.

“The church finances is steady and strong despite the church facing obstacles, the Finance Committee continues to see the increase of the taulaga (offering) annually.”

The church has several taulaga that members donate to during the year for the various divisional and development work done by the church.

The Samoan directorates continue to donate more than their overseas counterparts annually.

The Taulaga mo Nu’uese is earmarked for Missionary work and other development work. This includes funding for work with juveniles in prison, assisting overseas missions in Fiji and other countries.

Funding of Malua Theological College and financial support for students studying in overseas institutions comes from this fund as well as financial support for the work of EFKSTV2.

He added that the taulaga submitted from the Au Taumafai for the youth developments was $291,325.51 from Samoa while overseas collections totaled $241,775.33.

The taulaga for the Au Leoleo collected for Church Ministers’ work was $290,991.31 from local churches while the amount from overseas churches was $253,354.08.
