The Visit Amerika Samoa Association (VASA), in conjunction with the Office of Samoan Affairs, are launching an art contest to select a standard design for village signage the association plans to put up in every village of Tutuila and Manu’a.
The contest is open to all artists and there is no age limit. An artist can submit as many designs as they want.
The guidelines are that the art:
- must be representative of American Samoa as an island group and not limited to one specific island or village;
- must be relevant to Samoan culture, natural resources, traditional motifs or symbols; and
- may be any form of graphic art such as a drawing, painting or digital art.
The deadline for submitting entries is 5 pm, June 14th and entries can be submitted to Sadie’s by the Sea front desk; graphic art can be emailed to visitamerikasamoa@gmail.com
The winner will receive $500 and their design will appear on all the village signs that VASA and the Office of Samoan Affairs will be putting up throughout the territory.
