Lions Club cleans up Lions Park shoreline

While most were out shopping for Easter Sunday last Saturday, members of the Lions Club of Pago Pago were busy picking up trash…and there was lots of it…along the shoreline at Lions Park.

Lions President Christopher King said this was their contribution to \Earth Day  and pointed out that the environment is one of the focus areas for their club.

He was very happy with the  support shown  by the Boy Scouts,  youth groups and sports teams who turned out to help with their clean up.

The Lions Club partnered with the Department of P{arks and Recreations for the Earth Day activity.

Because it was high tide, the clean up was restricted to the shoreline , and according to King it didn’t take long tp fill more than 20 large trash bags.

Being a long weekend and with dumpsters filled, people who used the park left bottles, food wrappers and all sorts of trash behind.

The Lions Club treated all those who helped to a BBQ at the Lions den afterward.
