Three top officials of Justice & Courts suspended

The Samoan Cabinet has suspended three of the top officials of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration with the suspension last week of its Chief Executive Officer Papali’i John Taimalelagi under a warrant signed by the Head of State.

The warrant by Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II ordered the suspension of the top executive “for a period of one month with pay.

Samoa Observer reports the decision is believed to have been made by Cabinet at their Wednesday March 20 meeting last week.

This is the latest in an ongoing investigation into the Ministry which has already seen one Assistant CEO dismissed and another still under suspension as investigations continue.

The CEO has been under investigation for allegations that he removed Land and Titles Court files that were believed to have been delivered to the office of the Minister for Justice Fa’aolesa Katopau Ainu’u.
