House reviews nominees for Territorial Planning Commission

The House Government Operations Committee held confirmation hearings Friday morning for the first group of appointees for the Territorial Planning Commission. The commission is established by law to review and approve a comprehensive general plan for the development of the territory.

The administration submitted nine nominations to the Fono for confirmation. The nine are: Salalau Filoialii Mataalii; Aliitasi Afuola Mauga; Fonoti Simanu; Meauta Mageo; Rep. Fata Samuel Meleisea; Sen. Faiivae Iuli Godinet; Peter Crispin; Falana’i Ala; and Epenesa Te’o Jennings.

The first five questioned Friday were Mataalii, Taito, Simanu, Ala and Jennings.

After welcoming remarks, each appointee was asked to give an outline of themselves, their education and service. The remaining four appointees will have their hearings this morning, starting at 8 o’clock.
