Toe Afua Mai Matua march for pay

tamm-1

Members of the organization called Toe Afua mai Matua sang songs and marched to the third floor of the Executive Office Building this morning. They were carrying signs saying, Pay Me TAMM, DOE Bad Leadership, ASDOE Director Unprofessional and others.

The group of more than 20 were hoping to see Acting Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, but were unaware Lemanu was heading to a cabinet meeting at the Department of Agriculture.

TAMM members have worked in the schools mainly as cultural advisers and a federal grant allows them to receive stipends.  It’s understood their march was to let the acting governor know they have not been compensated for several months.

TAMM had taken their inquiry to the Director of Education and not satisfied with the answer they got, they decided to get a meeting with the acting governor.

The organization planned to continue their march to the cabinet meeting in pursuit of the acting governor; however, one of their leaders advised that out of respect for the Governor Lolo’s illness, it’s best they arrange a meeting with Acting Governor Lemanu at a later date.
