It’s going to be a wet and windy weekend

“Expect a wet and windy weekend,” says Meteorologist-In-Charge at the National Weather Service Elinor Lutu-McMoore.

We have two weather systems affecting the Samoan islands.

There’s a trough over American Samoa forecast to remain stationary for the weekend before it moves south southwest towards Tonga.

And there’s a low level pressure area developing within the trough.

What these systems will do is create heavy downpour particularly from Saturday onward; during the heavy rains and thunderstorms, strong winds of up to 60 miles per hour and stronger gusts will be generated.

There will be breaks in the weather but for the most part, the rain and winds will persist.

The National Weather Service is keeping an eye on the low level pressure area and will advise if it develops into anything further.
