A trough lying west of Savaii island uis responsible for the rain and occasional heay gusts we’re now experiencing.

This is the same trough which has been lingering over the islands since last week. It is now moving slightly east which means closer to American Samoa, dumping more rain and whipping up 20 to 30 miles per hour winds and occasional stronger wind gusts.

The question on most people’s minds is if it will dissipate by Valentine’s Day, Thursday.

Meteorologist Jane Taifane says the weather will improve by Wednesday or Thursday but it wont be completely fine.
