Internet on, WIC Clinic Tafuna reopens

The American Samoa WIC Clinic in Tafuna is reopening today after the fiber optic box for the office at government housing area Tafuna was replaced on Friday.

Director of Human and Social Services Muavaefaatasi John Suisala says the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority replaced the ONT box Friday afternoon and the office has internet and phone service again.

The fiber optic connection died January 17 which made it impossible to serve clients as all WIC client services are conducted and delivered using an Internet-based MIS system known as HANDS – for Health And Nutrition Delivery System.

The Tafuna WIC Clinic was then closed and clients were given the option of going to the WIC Clinic in Pavaiai or the main office in Utulei.

Muavaefaatasi said with internet and phone service back on, the Tafuna WIC Clinic will reopen for full service today, Tuesday, January 22,
