Senator Satele Galu Satele isn’t taking the governor’s word for it.

He has a lot of questions about the rosy financial report that Governor Lolo Moliga gave at the opening of the Fono Monday.

Speaking to KHJ News Satele said,  “How can we have a positive fund balance of $3.9 million when subsidies to the hospital and community college haven’t been paid, ASG employees didn’t get their annual increments and many employees worked overtime without pay?”

He also points out that businesses are complaining about the government not paying its bills.

The Tuala-tai Senator says he wants to see the accounts payable report for ASG and is sure that many businesses are waiting for payments.

Senator Satele also wants a detailed explanation on the new bond sale by the American Samoa Economic Development Authority.

He says now ASEDA has floated new bonds which has raised more than $50 million but the Fono has not had any input on how the money for this second bond sale is being used.

And further he believes the Fono should appropriate funds for repayment of the new bond series because that is the function of the Legislature.

In response to the issues raised by Senator Satele and other senators,Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipe’a is being called to a hearing of the Budget and Appropriations Committee at 8:30 next Tuesday morning.
