Will the “no lawmakers” policy be applied to other boards?

Many are asking whether Governor Lolo Moliga is going to enforce his administration’s policy of not appointing members of the Legislature to executive branch boards and commissions unless mandated by law.

We put that question to the governor’s executive assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, but he said that this is a question that KHJ News should put to the governor directly.

The purported policy is mentioned in Governor Lolo’s letter ending the services of  Senator Faiivae Alex Godinet and Andra Samoa on the Board of Directors of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority.

When KHJ News checked yesterday, there was no such action with lawmakers on the Board of the Hospital Authority, Development Bank of American Samoa, American Samoa Economic Development Authority, American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund Board of Trustees and Immigration Board.
