2019 gets off to a good start with a further drop in fuel prices.

The Maximum Allowable Price for fuel released yesterday by the Office of Petroleum Management shows the prices of all fuel products dropping.

Unleaded gasoline drops 12 cents a gallon.

Diesel goes down 6 cents per gallon… this includes road diesel, boilers /generators, commercial fishing vessels and other marine diesel while ultra low sulfur for road diesel and ultra low sulfur diesel for boilers/generators drops 8 cents a gallon wholesale.

The Office of Petroleum Marketing says oil prices mostly fell last week, reaching their lowest since the third quarter of 2017 as market observers have concerns that the global crude market is oversupplied.

According to Petroleum Officer Sione Kava, “We welcome the new year with more savings and consumers will have more change jingling in their pockets because of the lower prices at the pump.”

He reminds, however, that while OPM sets the maximum allowable prices suppliers can sell their products for; OPM has no control over retail prices.  These are determined by gas station owners.
