Governor Lolo Moliga has appointed members of his staff to the Board of Directors of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority.
In a memorandum dated today, the Governor said, “I hereby appoint Iulogologo Joseph Pereira and Alema Leota as new members of the ASTCA Board, with Mr Pereira as the new Chairman of the Board.”
Iulogologo is the Governor’s executive assistant and Leota is the Governor’s assistant legal counsel.
The Governor said, “ASTCA is currently experiencing a period of growth and opportunity. It is the duty of the Board to help strategically navigate ASTCA during this exciting time. Both Mr. Pereira and Mr. Leota possess skills and experience that will aid ASTCA at this critical stage. Please provide your full support to these individuals and ASTCA.”
The Governor’s memo did not say it but Iulogologo and Leota replace Senator Fai’ivae Alex Godinet who was chairman of the ASTCA Board and board member Ms. Andra Samoa. The Governor informed the two that it is his administration’s policy not to appoint members of the Legislature to executive branch boards and commissions unless the law requires it.
Iulogologo is also the chairman of the Hospital Authority Board and is a member of the American Samoa Economic Development Authority. He also sits on several ASG task forces.
