The Campaign Spending Commission is reminding all candidates in the mid term elections of November 6 that local election law requires  that they submit reports on their campaign finances.

Reports that need to be submitted to the Campaign Spending Commission for review are an Organizational Report, Preliminary Report, Final Report, and Supplementary Report.

Commission Chairman Finauvale Alex Zodiacal issued notice yesterday that this is a final reminder to all candidates that they are required to  prepare and submit these repots.

Under the law candidates are required to submit their first Organizational Report on or before the day of filing for nomination or election; and their  Second Organizational Report must be handed in at least 45 days before the general election i.e. September 21.

A  Supplemental Organizational Report was due 10 days  after receiving any contribution in any aggregate amount over $100; or making or incurring any expenditure, which is reportable by law.

Preliminary Reports must be filed no later than 4:30 p.m. on the lOth calendar day prior to the General Election i.e. October 29,2018.

And a final report was due on the 20th day after the General Election, i.e. November 26.

All these reports are mandatory whether or not the candidate was successful.

They are to be submitted to the Election Office attention Spending Commission Chairman Finauvale A.P. Zodiacal.  A receipt will be issued.

Finauvale advises that under Election Law, failure to file the required reports  is a Class B misdemeanor offense, which carries a maximum penalty of 6 months in jail and/or a fine of $500 for individuals and $2,000 for corporations.
