A traffic cop was admitted to the LBJ Hospital yesterday morning after the motorcycle he was driving ran off the road and plunged down an embankment in Tafagagai.
The accident occurred around 10:30 yesterday morning while the police motorcycle was heading westward just past the hill between Tafagagai and Laulii.
Eyewitnesses said the cop appeared to have suffered head injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
A tow truck was at the scene pulling up the badly damaged motorcycle from the beach.
As of today the cop was still in the hospital with head injuries.
A source told KHJ News investigators should look at the condition of the tires of the motorcycle to determine if this was a factor in the accident.
The source said the tires were bald. The Harley Davidsons which DPS bought this year cost close to $28,000 a piece.
KHJ News made several attempts to obtain a comment from Commissioner Le’i Sonny Thompson but he hasn’t responded.
