The Customs Division of Treasury has referred to the Department of Public Safety for investigation, a yacht on which drugs were found last week.
This was confirmed by Deputy Treasurer Keith Gebauer who said a recreational vessel has been referred to DPS for further investigation following the results of a routine inspection.
Gebauer would not provide any details but said the Pacific region has experienced an increase in the use of non-commercial vessels to transport cargo between islands.
He said the Customs Division has adjusted its inspection procedures to address this ever growing problem.
Fiji has been in the news this year for major drug and arms busts on yachts.
