The Basic Food Index for October took a significant dive as prices for some food items dropped.
According to a report from the Statistics Division of the Department of Commerce, the average price of turkey tails dropped the most, minus 7.7%.
The costs of saimin, chicken legs, eggs, rice, sugar and polonaise all dropped ranging from minus 0.6 to minus 5.1%.
Even the price of taro went down by minus 3.6%.
Although the October index dropped, average prices for the following food items increased in October:fresh fish, pork spare ribs, canned tuna, corned beef, butter, ice cream, bread and sausages.
The rest of the food items used in the monthly survey did not register a price change in the month of October.
Seven major food outlets were selected for the survey.
