The Pago Pago Post Office is reopening today after it was forced to close yesterday due to a plumbing problem.

Water from another section of the Lumanai Building  flowed into the postal facility, forcing it to close around 11 am.

Residents said even the sections where the postal boxes are situated were closed.

People with time sensitive packages to mail out and those waiting for prescription medicine were concerned.

Post Master Tao Suani told KHJ News that Development Bank of American Samoa which owns the Lumana’i Building had a crew working to fix the problem and cleaned up the postal facility, all day yesterday.

She said from Honolulu this morning that the Post Office will be opened normal business hours today, i.e. from 8:30 am-3:30 pm.

Important mail transported on last night’s Hawaiian Air flight are absentee ballots for today’s elections.
