The latest festival to be organized in the territory will be launched tomorrow.

Le Tausala Samoa Productions is staging the Tatau Samoa Festival which it hopes will become an annual event.

According to the latest issue of the official newsletter of the American Samoa Visitors Bureau, the three day festival will attract eight tattoo artists from off island who will be joining 4 local artists for the festival.

And a special feature of the festival is a scheduled exclusive concert by Pacific music icons Fiji and Tenelle.

ASVB said the final day of the festival will coincide with a scheduled visit by the cruise ship Emerald Princess.

“Our goal is to not only promote the ancient art of the tatau, but also promote the work of Samoan artists from all over the world,” said event organizer Blue Chen-Fruean.

She said the festival will feature the work of traditional and modern tattoo artists from Alaska, Washington, Hawai’i and the two Samoas.

Proceeds from the event will go towards a scholarship fund to cover for a student to attend Samoan studies at the American Samoa Community College.
