Ituau House candidates face THS seniors

Samoa and neighboring Pacific island nations were yesterday suggested as major sources of drugs into American Samoa.

The finger pointing was made during the forum for House of Representatives election for Itu’au District, organized by senior students and teachers of Tafuna High School yesterday morning.

Representative Manumaua Wayne Wilson told students and staff that finding the source of the drugs into the country was important.

All of the candidates stressed the need for closer working relations between representatives of Itu’au County and voters.

Questions ranged from issues on education, and minimum wage, to the much talked about Retirement Fund.

And it was the Retirement Fund that had all three in total agreement.

Representative Sala said he voted against the bill to increase the cap on local investment by the Fund from 17 to 35 percent and he would do it again.

He said the Retirement Fund was not a bank and needed to be preserved for the future of Fund members.

And on the controversial proposed shooting range near THS, all three agreed that the range needed to be relocated.

The next Tafuna High School Forum will be at 9am today at the THS Gymnasium with the eight House candidates of Tualauta District.
