Ulu flour company looking for ulu

The company that is producing flour from breadfruit and banana, Dream Builders Agricultural Produce is attracting the attention of off island investors.

Company owner Swains faipule Su’a Alexander Jennings says the demand for local ulu flour is great.

At the height of Cyclone Gita in February, a businessman from the Virgin Islands was here to discuss supplies of ulu for a liquor distillery, which the local company is now delivering.

Jennings observes that breadfruit has made a great comeback after Cyclone Gita, and is asking residents to allow them to use whatever breadfruit they don’t want.

He says interest has come from off island investors and he is confident that American Samoa is on its way to becoming a Pacific huib for ulu products.
