A pre trial conference in the case of the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Fiu Johnny Saelua, charged with second degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor, was continued to next week.

Independent Prosecutor David Vargas had informed the court last week that a plea agreement was being worked on in the case. This was to be presented today.   But when ithe case was called this morning, Vargas was not ready to proceed.

District court Judge Fiti Sunia then scheduled the pre trial confernec to October 25th.

The charge against Fiu stems from allegations made by a woman who lived with his family from an early age that the defendant sexually assaulted her.

The felony charge of sexual assault first degree was dismissed without prejudice last week after the prosecution said it didn’t have any witnesses.

When asked today if a felony charge will be refiled against Fiu, Vargas told KHJ News there are witnesses he needs to talk to.
