Families of the 34 children, women and men who perished in the September 29th earthquake and tsunami in 2009 have been invited to attend the annual memorial hosted by the Rotary Club of Pago Pago and Hawaiian Airlines at the Tsunami Memorial Family Picnic Shelter at Lions Park.
The celebration is set for 11:30 am Saturday at the site of the monument which has the names of the 34 victims.
An emotional part of the annual celebration is when family members are given an opportunity to reflect on the events of that tragic morning nine years ago, and talk about their children, spouses and parents.
At last year’s memorial ceremony, an American Samoan business woman from the United States Laura Ava Lafoia Tesimale, President and CEO of Splassher Inc, presented stock certificates to each of the families.
Rotary President Agnes Polu invites the public to join tomorrow’s celebration.
