One of the reasons why the government is driving the alia tele or super alia project is to enable local fishermen to fish farther from shore and be able to stay out longer during fishing trips.
Ta Atoa Tony Langkilde said on the Samoa Sunrise Show that the ruling by the Honolulu Federal District Court on the Long Vessel Prohibited Area has reaffirmed the 50 mile area designated for indigenous fishermen.
The alia tele, he said, would enable local fishermen to fish in the 50 mile zone.
