
Former Hawaii gubernatorial candidate Muliufi “Mufi” Hannemann and his consultant group have been hired by ASG as a lobbyist in Washington D.C.
The governor’s executive Assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira said in reply to KHJ News questions that Hannemann and his group are working on many negative federal policy issues such as the minimum wage, cabotage, funding for airport tower, new airport terminal building, 30 (1) tax credit, infrastructural needs and others.
It’s not the first time that ASG has hired consultants in the capital.
Hannemann, who was mayor of Honolulu for many years, made an unsuccessful bid for the governorship of Hawaii in 2014.
He has served as a special assistant with the Department of Interior where he was selected for a White House fellowship in the Reagan administration under Vice President George Bush .
The Harvard-educated former star athlete was director of Hawaii’s Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, Chief of the state’s Office of International Relations and Chairman of the Honolulu City Council
He held two terms as Mayor of Honolulu.
