The Department of Public Safety will be able to use the new modular shooting range of the US Army Reserve which is under construction between the VA Clinic and South Pacific Academy.

The US Army Reserve held two town hall meetings Wednesday and yesterday to provide information and hear community input about the new facility which is to support combat readiness.

Those attending yesterday’s meeting raised concerns about safety and the noise and were assured that the Army has designed the building according to standards which are higher than the usual specifications to make it safe for users and the community.

Command Executive Officer Jon Lee who conducted the town hall meetings said they will be back early next year and intend to make special presentations to Taufna High School and South Pacific Academy.

He said the facility will be made available for weapons training for the Department of Public Safety and they have started discussions with ASG for that purpose.
