A Chinese national is the subject of a combined Police and Fire and Emergency search at a popular swimming trench on the eastern side of Upolu island.
Police reported that Mr Feng Nen Ming, described as a Chinese tourist, had been “washed away at To Sua”, the trench popular with tourists and Samoans from overseas.
Police said their search is only operating in daytime as they try to locate the tourist.
And they have issued a warning for members of the public and hotels to inform overseas guests “in regards to the unpredictable conditions of surrounding ocean.”
Police say this is the second time a visitor has been swept away at this popular location.
The missing Chinese tourist has still to be located as of early this morning.
