
The House Communications Committee is calling in the Acting CEO of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority and Chairman of the Board to answer questions about the status of ASTCA following the sudden passing of former CEO Puleleiite Tufele Li’amatua Jr.
Vice Speaker Fetu Fetui had listed ASTCA among entities of ASG that are having problems, and he said employees are concerned about the current status of the government’s telecommunications agency, following Puleleiite’s death.
Elaborating to KHJ News outside the House chamber, the Vice Speaker said he has learned there’s division among employees and there are various cliques which are affecting ASTCA’s operations.
He also pointed to the recent delay in ASTCA paychecks, as a matter of concern.
The vice speaker also wants the Committee to find out the real status of the Hawaiki cable project which was originally publicizd for launch in June.
The Communications Committee Chair, Fialupe Fiaui Lutu, has listed as questions for the ASTCA officials to answer, ASTCA’s re-organization chart, the number of consultant contracts and the relationship between the CEO and ASTCA Board.
