Three students from Americans Samoa were among 1700 high school students from more than 75 countries who competed at the Inter International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania last month.

Also at the Intel ISEF Fair, the world’s largest international pre college science competition, were three student observers.

American Samoa’s finalists were Gloria Park and Seamus Cleary of Pacific Horizon School and Daln Myung of South Pacific Academy.

They were the top overall winners from the 2018 Territorial Science Fair.

Seamus Cleary came home with a special award from the Intel ISEF.

He won third place and was awarded $500 from the American Geosciences Institute.

The student observers from American Samoa who attended the Fair were Carl Balauroof of Faasao Marist High School, Imelda Linn of Pacific Horizon School, and Shobita Rajamohan of South Pacific Academy.

Jhoanna Dizon from Pacific Horizon School was the teacher chaperone.

Department of Education Office of Curriculum and Instruction’s Science and Health Division acknowledges the assistance of DOE, ASG departments and agencies and all supporters of science for making it possible for the students to continue competing at the national level.

Thanks also to all businesses and ASG departments, who were sponsors of the Territorial Science Fair
