Acting Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga has ordered the flying of flags at half staff pursuant to a proclamation by the President of the United States, as a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.

The shooting today resulted in the loss of at least 10 lives with many more wounded.

Lemanu said, “As we reflect upon this tragedy perpetrated in a place of learning, and consider the loss of life and the grievous impacts upon the affected families, friends and their community, let us all take a moment to give thanks to our Supreme Being for his continued blessings upon our people and society.”

The flags will fly at half mast until sunset on Tuesday, May 22.
