Police in Samoa are hunting for four men suspected of assaulting a taxi driver and stuffing him in the boot while taking the taxi on a joy ride all night.
Police spokesperson Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo told media in an email message that the taxi was later found abandoned at Toamua.
According to the driver’s niece her uncle said he knocked on the boot after the taxi stopped around 5 in the morning, and a young man opened it.
According to the driver his ordeal started after he picked up four men around 7 pm Saturday.
When they got to their supposed destination, they beat him up and stuffed him in the boot while they took the taxi for a joyride.
After he was freed he discovered that his assailants had taken off with $T300 and a cellphone.
