Yesterday evening a Hawaiian Air flight landed at Pago Pago International Airport while it was still daylight.
The aircraft made a refueling stop enroute from Honolulu to Auckland, New Zealand.
According to airline spokesperson Ann Botticelli, yesterday’s detour was due to bad weather in New Zealand.
Airport staff said the aircraft arrived around 6 pm and didn’t leave until about 10 pm.
Passengers deplaned and waited in the departure lounge until the aircraft took off for Aotearoa.
Meanwhile the special Wednesday flight from Honolulu arrived at its regular time.
