A man is fighting for his life at Samoa’s Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital in Apia after he was found unconscious with severe head injuries that police believe were caused by a machete.
Details of the incident are still not clear pending the results of a police investigation.
Police spokesperson, Superintendent Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, told the Samoa Observer that the young man had undergone emergency surgery Wednesday morning and is still in intensive care.
The matter was reported to police around 4:00am after the man was found by passersby at an undisclosed parking lot.
But witnesses confirmed the man was from Moto’otua, a village in the Apia area where the country’s main hospital is located.
