SOFIAS prepare ornaments for American Samoa tree in DC

The Sosiate o Faafafine i Amerika Samoa, SOFIAS, has been invited again to prepare ornaments for American Samoa’s congressional Christmas tree that will be lit up on November 30.

The invitation came from Congresswoman Aumua Amata who is the patroness for SOFIAS.

SOFIAS President Ipi Ieli says the ornaments, which are now on their way to DC, were created by SOFIAS members Loosh Uso, Nani Uso, Hazel Opelu and Ronnie Faiai.

They depict legends, landscapes, handicrafts and traditions and are made of shells, feathers, flowers, sinnet, and bark.

There’s the Tai Samasama, Niu Aveve, laei a le taupou, tanoa, fale Samoa, lauao, pale fuiono, ipu ava, and ato laufala.

The Vice President of SOFIAS, Trina Vee Tuimalealiifano and member Tepatasi Vaina will be present for the lighting ceremony at Capitol Hill on November 30.
