A woman has topped the polls in the special election for District No. 5, Sua #1 held today.
The unofficial results released by the Election Office at 7:06 this evening has Fialupe Felila Fiaui Lutu with 94 ballots, or 26% of the 357 ballots cast.
Mrs Lutu is the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives so being at the Fono is not new to her.
Tuifagalilo Vele polled 72 votes, 20% and Tuialofi Faalae Lauatuaa Tunupopo received 64 votes, 18%.
Laloniu P. Maloa placed fourth with 57 votes, 16%, Uele Fale S Uele polled 50 votes, 14% and Ketesemane Meaole received 20 votes, 6%.
The results are unofficial until Tuesday, October 31.
