Congresswoman Aumua Amata said she hopes that the story about her efforts to win the seat that she now occupies in Congress will hep inspire young people.
The congresswoman was one of the 2017 Stars of Oceania honored by the University of Hawaii, Pacific Business Center. 
In a video presentation that was played at the awards dinner at Lee Auditorium last night, the congresswoman referred to running for the congressional seat ten times.

Resilience healing and unleashing were themes of the 2017 awards.
Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa told the attentive audience of cabinet members, business owners, church representatives and relatives, about the powerful unleashing that took place after the 2009 tsunami.
Samoans responded and did what needed to be done without any coordination.
Fiame said it is this power of unleashing that’s necessary now.
