Lopao’o Tanielu Mua, Member of Parliament for Vaisigano N0. 1 of Savai’i, has been named as the new Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegoi.

He replaces former minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt who resigned two weeks ago after he was charged for obtaining money by deception.

This stems from an internal dispute at the privately owned Nonu juice company in which the minister was a director.

The new minister, Lopao’o, is from the village of Asau in Savai’i and has a road construction company.

He is a first time Parliamentarian having been elected in the 2016 elections

He was appointed chairman of the recent Commission of Inquiry into the operations of the Land and Titles Court of Samoa.

Lopao’o is married with three children.
